Frequently
asked questions

The Cited Index is India’s first public AI visibility leaderboard. It ranks brands by how often they appear in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews. Updated monthly with real data from non-branded consumer queries.
We run non-branded consumer-intent queries (like ‘best luggage brands in India’) across 5 AI platforms. For each brand discovered in the responses, we calculate the mention rate per platform, then take the simple average across all platforms. The result is a score from 0 to 100.
Sentiment shows whether AI describes the brand positively, negatively, or with mixed opinions. Position indicates where in the AI response a brand typically appears — #1 means it’s usually mentioned first, #5 means it appears late in the list. Both are aggregated across all queries and platforms.
Yes, completely free. No login, no email gate. The Cited Index is a public resource updated monthly. For real-time daily tracking, per-query drill-downs, and historical trends, check out our paid platform.
Monthly. Each edition runs all queries fresh across all 5 AI platforms, discovers brands from the new responses, and recalculates all scores. New categories are added regularly.
You can’t manually add your brand — the index reflects what AI actually recommends. If your brand doesn’t appear, it means AI platforms aren’t mentioning you in response to consumer queries in your category. An AI Visibility Report can help you understand why and how to improve your AI visibility.
